Preparing for Divorce

Simmons Law Firm understands divorce is often an emotionally painful decision. Henry Simmons has been handing divorces throughout Northeast Georgia for 30 years and will help prepare you for the conflict that may come. Henry understands divorce law and divorce strategy and is dedicated to fight for your rights through your struggle. If you are thinking about filing for divorce or have been served with divorce papers, give us a call. The sooner we get started the sooner a resolution can be reached.

There are many components to a contested divorce.  Not all of these will occur, but with the support and legal knowledge of Henry, you will be prepared for it all.  Consider the following legal procedures you may have to be prepared for:

  • Mediation.  Don't you want to get the best possible outcome for yourself?
  • Settlement negotiations. Do you think having someone to speak for your wishes and needs is important?
  • Questions from the opposing counsel about your finances. Shouldn't your spouse have to answer questions?
  • Questions from the opposing counsel about your lifestyle. Shouldn't your spouse have to defend his/her lifestyle choices?
  • Questions from the opposing counsel about your children and parenting. Shouldn't your spouse have to defend his/her parenting practices?
  • Depositions which are used to build cases against you. Wouldn't you want a skilled attorney to ask your spouse difficult questions which may be used against him/her in court?
  • Trial--your soon to be ex will have an attorney. Shouldn't you?

If you answered YES to ANY of these questions then you need to call our office for an appointment to see Mr. Simmons.

Some divorcing couples desire an uncontested divorce.   In an uncontested divorce, for example, the parties have agreed in advance how to divide marital property, allocate debts, arrange for custody of minor children, and set child and spousal support.

We do not charge for postage, copies, or paralegal fees for your uncontested case. Our flat fees cover the entire cost for your uncontested divorces, except for court costs, and are paid in full at the beginning of your case.
